The Canadian government announced it will allow visitors from the United States with valid visa to enter without a visa. Visitors must hold passports valid for six months beyond the date of entry into Canada, though. Those traveling to British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories and Nunavut are eligible to apply online.

The Canadian government announced Friday it will begin accepting applications for permanent residency status for those living outside of Canada. The move comes amid concerns about immigration levels and fears of a potential recession.

The program will allow Canadian visa holder to apply for permanent residence status based on their ability to contribute to Canada economically. Applicants with valid visa must show that they are willing to work in Canada for three years, and meet certain educational requirements.

Applicants will be able to submit multiple applications over a period of five years as from the time of entry, according to Citizenship and Immigration Minister.

However, a person applying for permanent resident status will be required to pay $1,200 per application for a resident card. However, applicants will receive a refund if they do not qualify for permanent resident status within five years.

The program is expected to cost roughly $70 million annually.

2. Canadian Visas

To travel to Canada, you’ll need a passport that’s valid for at least six months after your arrival date. You also need to obtain a valid visitor visa before arriving in Canada. (For visa holder only)

Meanwhile, there are two types of visas available when entering Canada: tourist visas and business/work visas.

Tourist Canadian Visas

If you’re planning to stay less than 90 days, you may be eligible for a free, single-entry tourist visa. This type of visa allows you to come to Canada for up to 30 days.

Likewise, if you plan to spend more time in Canada, you may be eligible to apply for a multi-entry visa. A multi-entry visa allows you to come back to Canada up to four times during a 12-month period.

Business/Work Canadian Visas

Those looking to work or study in Canada can apply for a temporary worker visa to obtain a valid work permit. Meanwhile those looking to study, can apply for valid study permit. Temporary worker visas are only available to foreign nationals employed by Canadian companies. They are issued for a maximum of 18 months and can be extended once for another 18 months.
