-A valid passport that is valid for at least six months from the date of application;
-Valid residence permit or proof of citizenship;
-Two photos;

Requirements for different types of ID cards on the digital services
There are three main types of ID cards for Italian citizens:
-Carte di Stato (State ID) – For those who have lived in Italy for less than 3 years, this card is free. It’s issued by the local town hall. You must present evidence of residency when you renew the card every 5 years.
-Carta di Soggiorno (Residence Permit) – For those who have lived in Italy for more than 3 years but less than 10 years, this card costs €810. It’s issued by local police offices. You must produce a residence permit if requested by immigration officials.
-Carte di Cittadinanza (Citizen’s Identity Card) – For those who have resided in Italy for more than 10 years, this is the most expensive form of ID card. It costs €840 and is issued by the Ministry of Interior. It includes all the same features as the State ID card plus biometric data such as fingerprints, facial recognition, palm prints, iris scans, and voice samples.
