Spain’s Entry Requirements
“The Spanish government has announced it will require foreign nationals to prove they are able to support themselves financially before being granted Spanish Visa.”
Spain has been cracking down on immigration since the economic downturn began. In October 2017, Spain introduced stricter rules for foreigners wanting to enter the country. Previously, anyone could apply for residence permits without having to provide proof of financial stability.
Now, Spanish Visa applicants must show they earn €1,400 (£1,100 or $1,500) per month or €8,700 (£7,800 or $9,600) annually. They must also prove they have sufficient savings to cover three months’ rent and living costs. Applicants must also pass a language test.
In addition, those applying for permanent residence must now demonstrate they have enough money to live independently. This includes proving they have access to health insurance and have a stable job. The new regulations also state that non-EU citizens who want to stay in Spain for longer than three months will need to be employed.
Which Spanish Visa Do I Need to Enter Spain?
The United States does not issue tourist visas to people traveling to Spain for tourism purposes. However, there are some exceptions. You can apply for a visa online, but you must submit proof of a round-trip flight ticket out of the US within 14 days of arriving in Spain. If you do not have a return flight booked, you must pay $160 per person for a visa application fee.
You can obtain a Spanish Visa upon arrival at the airport in Madrid. This option costs €60 per person. There are no additional fees for children under 12 years old.
If you plan to travel to Spain multiple times during one calendar year, you must apply for a visa every time you enter the country. To avoid paying multiple application fees, it is best to apply for a single entry visa.
A Schengen visa allows visitors to remain in the European Union for up to 90 days. A Schengen visa is valid for stays of up to three months without any additional documents.
Visa requirements vary depending on where you want to go in Spain. For example, a tourist visa is required to visit Andalusia, Canary Islands, Castile and Leon, Extremadura, Galicia, La Rioja, Murcia, Navarra, Pas Vasco, Salamanca, Segovia, Valencian Community, and Zaragoza.
How Much Does it Cost to Apply for a Spanish Visa?
The visa application cost depends on the visa type you are seeking. Visa applicant for example, a tourist visa costs $260 while a student visa costs $400. If you plan to apply for multiple visas, it might be worth considering getting a visa package deal. You could save money by paying one fee for multiple types of visas.
